Musée de Flandre
Having been closed for more than ten years, the Musée de Flandre reopened to the general public on October 23rd 2010. The museum is located in the centre of Cassel, a small French town, 20 km from the border with Flanders. In the Middle Ages Cassel was part of the county of Flanders. The museum’s collection is devoted entirely to Flemish art and culture and comprises some 600 works of art.
It is only natural that a newly renovated museum should want to take an up-to-the-minute approach to its subject matter. Moreover, it was the management’s express wish that the exhibits should be accompanied by lots of detail and additional visual material. And so, yes, in the end and with our blessing, they opted for the Apple iPod Touch, for which we developed a multimedia tour. Fortunately for us it was exactly what they wanted, and we can put that down in part to the iPod Touch’s amazing picture quality. The museum purchased 20 iPods which are available to visitors at the reception desk. If you are wondering if it isn’t difficult to charge 20 iPods, well no, in actual fact, it couldn’t be easier! Take a look at this blog on theartspot. It tells you all about the technology we have used with such success in our projects.
